Review: The Consuming Fire

The Consuming Fire The Consuming Fire by John Scalzi
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I love Scalzi. He is possibly my favorite sci-fi writer of all time. I love his witty, but sometimes gruesome, almost Tarantino-like dialogues. I always have the most quotes highlighted on my Kindle in a Scalzi book.

This one is more different. After being introduced to the world of the Interdependency in the previous book we get to know more about it and some more about the rest of the universe as well. Some character return as well, but there are a few new ones, which are just as fun.

I don't want to make any spoilers, but I think this is a perfect example of a second title in a trilogy. It deepens and elaborates the story that started in the first one, but also ends in a huge cliffhanger so you cannot wait for the third one. Very well done, sir!

I already mentioned it, that I really like the author's writing style. The characters each have a unique, easily recognizable voice, and also the world-building is really superb.

I can wholeheartedly recommend this to any sci-fi lover. But start with the first book, of course.

Five shining stars!
