I really liked it. Almost blown away. The magic system and the worldbuilding got a lot of praise in the other reviews and both deserve it. I immediately pre-ordered the newt part and also started the author's urban fantasy series, so that probably says something. Still, there were some same strange feeling in me about the demons. It may just be that I'm more used to "orthodox" fantasy and somehow these were somewhat strange to me. I'm pretty sure I will get used to it though.

I liked the LGBTQ love theme, or it's better to stay that I almost didn't notice it. It was that natural.

Overall it's a great start for a new saga, I'm pretty sure I will follow. Also, it's time for me to read all the previous books of Myke Cole. :D

The Silence of the Lambs by Thomas Harris My rating: 5 of 5 stars I've read this book like 3 times when I was a teenager, but apart from the main plot I only remembered that I loved it very much. I think I didn't even know at that time that this was the part of a series. Now though I intend to read the whole series in the "correct" order so after finishing Red Dragon, I re-read Silence of the Lambs as well. Even though some memories came back during reading it was still a very exciting and enjoyable experience. Thriller and horror and not my main go-to genre, but I think Hannibal Lecter is one of the best villains of all time. I totally recommend it to anyone, even if not having read Red Dragon.
