Richard Kadrey is one of my most favorite authors of all time. In the top 3. And this is something totally different from the previous urban fantasy books I'm used to, but of course, I pre-ordered this one as well as soon as it appeared and I don't regret it.

The world-building is really fantastic. The whole thing is really unique and really believable. It made me devour the whole book in a matter of days even though the main characters were not always too likable for me. Still, the story, the world, and the excellent writing made it a great experience.

But, even though I gave 5 stars for this book, I'm looking forward to reading the new Sandman Slim novels more than maybe another story set in the same world as this one.

Highly recommended, if you like dystopian steam-punk-like stories

The Silence of the Lambs by Thomas Harris My rating: 5 of 5 stars I've read this book like 3 times when I was a teenager, but apart from the main plot I only remembered that I loved it very much. I think I didn't even know at that time that this was the part of a series. Now though I intend to read the whole series in the "correct" order so after finishing Red Dragon, I re-read Silence of the Lambs as well. Even though some memories came back during reading it was still a very exciting and enjoyable experience. Thriller and horror and not my main go-to genre, but I think Hannibal Lecter is one of the best villains of all time. I totally recommend it to anyone, even if not having read Red Dragon.
