Review: Ender's Game
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This book was my absolute favorite when I was a teenager. I read it at least 5 or 6 times.
Then recently I caught the movie on TV and I remembered how much I liked this story back then. (BTW the movie is horrible, don't bother watching it)
My fear was that I wouldn't enjoy the story as much as a kid for two reasons.
On the first hand, I thought that the whole point of view of a young child would prevent me from getting sucked into the story as immensely as in the past.
On the other hand, I learned a lot about the author (mainly because of the scandals around him) and let's just say I don't completely agree with him on a lot of things.
But my fear was pointless. Ender's story is still mesmerizing, and although there some places in the story where you can find gender inequality or the special use of religion I wouldn't say that it permeates the story so to be annoying.
So I still think this is one of the masterpieces of 20th-century science fiction and one of the great classics.
It is a must-read for every fan of the genre.
