Review: Good Omens
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
I rated this 3 stars, which means I liked it. And I really did. It's probably not the books' problem that somehow I didn't feel engaged or drawn in until I left the halfway point or so. It's probably one of those times when I chose a funny book and I wasn't in the mood for it. But my slight OCD doesn't allow me to leave a book, at least not yet (and I haven't really started a book so bad that I would feel the need to leave) and I managed to carry on reading and finishing it.
After the first part though, with which I really struggled, I somehow was able to catch the rhythm and I finished the second half in almost one sitting.
I really like both authors, and it was especially nice to read some stuff about how they wrote this book and how it became so successful.
I really feel that the parallels drawn with Douglas Adams are reasonable, the humor is absolutely of the same kind.
It was probably not the right time for me to read this, and that is the only reason I stick with the 3 stars, but I am quite sure I will re-read this in a future time and if it convinces me I will correct the rating to 4 (or possibly 5) stars.
Still, I quite recommend this book to the fanbase of both authors and also to those liking Douglas Adam's works.
