Review: Control Point

My rating: 3 of 5 stars
3 stars. I liked it, but not super liked it.
I started reading this book after I've finished the Armored Saint, which is a fantasy story by the same author. The worldbuilding is quite exceptional here as well, and I really liked the writing too. The story was engaging and believable. But somehow, I found it hard to connect with the characters, especially the main one. They seemed distant and alien a bit and sometimes I didn't really follow what the motivation was for them to do what they chose to do.
But the magic system is really great and feels fresh. The world is quite believable too, no absolute good or bad sides, rather different degrees of grey.
So, I liked it, and I'm sure I'll come back to the series, and also I recommend it to anyone liking the "urban military fantasy" style if that's a thing at all :D
