My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I rated the previous Binti story 3 stars, but by the changed standards of mine, it should have been 2. I'm trying to use the rating system from now on as it is intended and really, the first story was OK for me. As I wrote in my review it was really alien and unapproachable for me on every level. I get the big hype around the books, and I also see that it's a nice thing to read sci-fi rooted in African culture, but honestly, I have so little (basically no) connection with anything Africa related from rural central Europe, that the different tribal human characters felt more alien to me than the different aliens in the story.

So I give this one 3 stars, meaning I liked it. And it's true. I knew some basic stuff about the Himba tribe and the main characters from the previous story and therefore it was a little easier for me to approach this story.

But still, I think I will buy the 3rd and final episode just to know where the story ends, but this type of sci-fi is really not for me. I cannot really tell what's happening and why is it important for the protagonist most of the times.

It is a nice story, and the language use is really beautiful throughout the book. It's also not very long. So I would recommend it to everyone, just for the novelty of it if not else.
